About LeetBin

What is this thing?

LeetBin is a free and easy Markdown blogging platform. It also happens to be the personal blog and passion project of a web developer from Boston (go Sox!), so there will never be obnoxious ads and an email address is not required to sign up out of respect for your privacy.

There are no ads, no tracking and no unnecessary data collection on LeetBin. The only thing that matters around here is enjoying the experience of writing and sharing with Markdown.

“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”

How is it Free? (Tiers & Pruning)

LeetBin stays free by minimizing server costs through automatic pruning of inactive content and accounts. Here's how that works, based on your account tier:

Account Tiers & Pruning
  • Regular Users: The default tier for all new accounts. Bins are deleted after 60 days of inactivity. Accounts are deleted after 120 days of inactivity — but only if the user has no remaining bins.
  • Power Users: A free upgrade for trusted users and early adopters — just email Brian to get access (requires an email on your account). Bins are deleted after 90 days of inactivity. Accounts after 180 days (if no bins remain).
  • Premium Users: Eventually a paid tier to support server costs. For now, free for any Power User who wants to support the project. Bins and accounts are never deleted automatically.

What's next?

This is a long-term project, so I am taking my time to build a polished product from the start -- constantly circling back to refactor and eliminate technical debt as I go.

Incremental user experience upgrades will be made pretty much constantly, and upcoming major features will include:

  • bin topics / categories Completed July 2025!
  • comment threads
  • private message threads
  • user profile enhancements
